Company History
.Tom watched J.D.s early challenges
and researched ways in which to facilitate personal success.
The
Para/Quad Services was established by Thomas R. Frazier in
1988 after his son (J.D.) was injured on the job. J.D. fell
from a ladder and fractured vertebrae at the 4th and 5th cervical
level and transecting his spinal cord, further resulting in
permanent paralysis from the neck down. Tom watched J.D.s
early challenges and researched ways in which to facilitate
personal success. The biggest hurdle perceived, second only
to illness or injury itself, was facilitating individual client
success through processes that help identify good matches
between clients and staff.
Toms answer developed into utilizing quality home care staff
to avoid, monitor, and respond to negative health issues associated
with catastrophic injury; to facilitate increased relative
independence; and to provide efficient care delivery. With
just such services, J.D. was able to return to a productive
lifestyle. Since his accident in 1984, J.D. and his wife are
the proud parents of a daughter born in 2003. He has earned
his bachelor of science and masters degrees. During the same
time, J.D. has actively participated in the Peer Support program
at Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
During J.D.s formal education process, he and his father
frequently pondered ways in which individuals with catastrophic
disabilities were succeeding in life, and how those who were
not could be assisted. J.D. designed a graduate research project
in Conflict Management to understand challenges in Private
Home Care Provider services in health care delivery.
Tom turned over operation of Para/Quad Services to J.D. after
his years of being a quad, formal education, and initiation
and orientation in the business.
